Our Events &
Initiatives
Leading or supporting an event and/or initiative is a great way to bring people together and to make our community tangible and visible for others. Learn more about our efforts and get involved here.
Neighborhood Yard Sale
Every year CBN members host and organize a yard sale throughout the block club area. Stay tuned for a specific date for this year!
Baltic Children's Park Rain Garden
In 2020, CBN planted and now maintains a rain garden / pollinator garden at Baltic Children's Park. This demonstration garden shows how rainwater flowing from the playground area waters the plants, and removes pollutants from the water that are filtered through the plants. The garden provides a beautiful setting with the multiple flowers and bloom times. It also provides more biodiversity than the surrounding turf grass monoculture, and is an important food and habitat source for pollinators, like butterflies and bees.
NWN Outdoor Movie Night Support
CBN is proud to volunteer and support the NWN annual neighborhood outdoor movie night. We are also interested in pursuing collective ownership of the equipment necessary to host and run outdoor movies on a more frequent basis. Reach out via email if you're interested in helping!
Neighborhood Porch Parties
CBN tries to organize casual get-togethers at least once a month on a neighborhood porch, with a focus on attracting the residents from each street, but all are welcome. A great way to meet your neighbors! Come on out, or sign up to host!
Garden Walk
CBN members both attend and host the Garden Walk in support of our local rep and Garden Walk neighborhood lead, Tim Stemen.
Food Truck Wednesdays
A major gathering on West Blvd with food truck vendors providing delicious eats, keep a look out for yard signs promoting this event!
Neighborhood Welcome Kit – Work in Progress
CBN hopes to create a simple welcome kit for new neighbors to provide a friendly introduction for new residents!
Neighborhood Composting – Work in Progress
CBN is supporting an effort to establish a municipal composting service for our neighborhood. To find out more or get involved, check out the Google doc for this project
